Online Chat Schedule

 

Online chat is scheduled for:

Feel free to drop in at any of the regularly scheduled times, or email me to suggest a time that works better for you. You aren't required to spend all your time in the class chat room – it's just a virtual classroom where you can meet other people taking the course and talk about the class and the internet, but you should try to make one of the chat sessions each week.

The chat room URL is http://www2.howardcc.edu:8080

Another option for chatting is to use the software program mIRC to access the chat room. The URL for that is www2.howardcc.edu, port 6667.

On the opening screen, click the "Load Chat Client" button:

If this doesn't lead you into the following screen, try going back and checking the "Use Light Chat" option on the opening screen:

Once you've connected, your name (by default, "Guest") will appear in the right hand column. To change from "Guest" to  your name (important, if you want to get credit for this portion of the class), type your name in the "Enter New Name" field and click the Change Name button.

Just start typing on the bottom line and hit return to enter the text you've typed – that's all it takes to participate.

If the screen above does not appear, try checking the "Use Light Chat" option on the opening screen. You should see this screen instead:
