Search Engines - Specific Search Engine Tips

Use its Power Search window to construct complex Boolean queries. Click the Refine button to view a list of words commonly found in the search results. You can refine the search by including or excluding any of those words from a subsequent search.

The "More Like This" feature finds additional pages similar to a found page that meets your requirements. Also, use its Power Search page for fine-tuning searches.

Find only up-to-date pages by limiting the search to those pages that have changed in the last three or six months.

After you complete one search, search within those results. Do that by constructing a new query and clicking on the "Search These Results" button.

The Lycos Pro page finely tunes how it ranks found items for relevancy.

Search the Special Collections as well as the entire Web. This turns up documents that aren't otherwise available on the Web.
