Paper #5: Job Search, Electronic Text, or Software Search

For the final paper you can either conduct an online job search, look up some electronic texts available online, or look up, download, install and evaluate software available online.


Online Job Search
Use the internet to conduct a job search. Read the job search information available here.

For the paper for this class, email me and include this information:

  1. attach your electronic resume
  2. list sites you used to submit your resume online (list at least three different sources)
  3. list sites you found that would accept a resume online for the site's company
  4. your search criteria in the online want ads (be detailed and specific)
  5. # of hits for your search criteria for online want ads (list at least three different sources)
  6. if you applied to the subject of your in-depth company search, how did your research information benefit you?

Electronic Texts
Use the internet to search through electronic texts. 
Read the electronic text information available here.

For the paper for this class, email me and include this information:

  1. sites of electronic texts explored (list at least five)
  2. list five individual works read
  3. compare five works from #2 with traditional texts (the differences, pros and cons, of the electronic version vs. the printed material)
  4. analyze the differences in the universal formats and their popularity on the web
  5. comparison shop for an e-book and describe your findings in terms of features and cost

Software
Use the internet to find and download software off the internet. 
Read the software information available here

For the paper for this class, email me and include this information:

  1. list the programs you've downloaded with PKZIP (or another utility)
  2. how many programs have you downloaded (zipped or not) since you started surfing the internet?
  3. how useful were the programs?
  4. if shareware, did you pay the licensing fees?
  5. was there a for-purchase alternative for the downloaded software?
  6. if so, how does the for-purchase product compare with the online version?
