Databases are either bibliographic or full-text.
A bibliographic database describes an item (article, book, work of art, etc.) and identifies titles, dates, authors, and other parts of written works.
A full-text database includes the entire text of the indexed work, and a description of it.
Proprietary Databases:
Some specialized databases are proprietary (or commercial) and are only available if your organization has purchased access to them. For example, FirstSearch, DIALOG, STN, and Lexis-Nexis are all proprietary databases.
